New Project on Anonymity in Networks

How anonymous is an individual in a social network, based on the structural position of this person in a network, as well as the person’s descriptive attributes? That’s the central question studied in the ANO-NET project, which runs from 2021 to 2025 and is jointly funded by Statistics Netherlands (CBS) and the Population-scale Social Network Analysis (POPNET) platform.

ABOUT ME
I am an associate professor at LIACS, the computer science and AI department of Faculty of Science of Leiden University. My research interest is in network science, in parrticular methods and algorithms for knowledge discovery from (social) network data, with applications in economics, science studies and computational social science.

Currently, I am head of the Leiden Computational Network Science research group, academic co-director of the Dutch POPNET research platform for population-scale social network analysis and co-chair of the Dutch Network Science Society. I am director of education of the LIACS bachelor programmes Informatica (Computer Science) and Data Science & Artificial Intelligence. I teach courses on competitive programming and social network analysis.
